Buying Skate shoes online?

The skate shop were I lived closed down about 2 months ago I had a pair of globes then last 7 months then after it closed I brought some vans and the suck now its been a month and they have holes in them! So I wanted to know if its good to buy skate shoes online http://www.skateamerica.com/store/Globe-Mens-Shoes-Appleyard-Vagrant-Black-White_P20131C142.cfm I've been skating for 10 years I've tried vans adio,Adidas and globe I like globe and Adidas the best. I've brought wheels,bearings,and shirts from them already(all fine right size and everything)but my friends say I shouldn't buy shoes online from anywhere. I've went to Pack Sun and Kohl's(way to expensive of shoes mainly Pack Sun) I don't want Ethines or Nike( sorry but I'm old school) so I want to know if buying shoes online is good?(sorry for the long details)
