where can I look up topographic maps for anywhere in the world? Internet, or what?
Can I look up topographic maps on the internet or in a library, or from Triple A, or an aviator's reference, or anything like that?

- Good question t bones--if you live near a University, they'll have them on plate--paper--they are very detailed for study. A lot of the topographical maps of Canada are done in 3D, so you get a set of stereosciopes (not sure of the name) glasses on ya, and you wouldn't believe it. Same in the US if yer there. As for the world, likely Google Earth
- You can go to websites such as www.topozone.com, or www.terraserver.com, or http://terraserver-usa.com and find topographic maps, aerial photos, etc. or you can download google earth (free) and see just about anywhere in the world (like looking down from an airplane). Some areas have better resolution (i.e., more detail) than others which allows you to zoom in closer. The important aspect of google.earth as it relates to your question about topo maps, though, is that wherever your cursor is on the map, you can read the latitude, longitude, and ground elevation which is the some of the same info you would find on a topo map.
