What to think about when designing a world map for a game?
I'm very bad at drawing so I probably only could make a sketch at best. I'd like to have a original world map (not used by a other game). This map I will use in all games I make. So is there any good tutorial/guide somewhere, what things should I tink about when I design the map? Or else all maps would just be in basics a big round or square island in the ocean, right?

- The best thing to think about is your physics/graphics engine. Every thing depends on what it can handle and what will make it look the best. Probably want to stay away from sharp cliffs and things if you do not have the best detection system. Also make things square and sacrifice looks for overall realism if that makes any sense.
- Think accessibility, variation of gameplay and terrain, equal distribution of quests. Also you could just start with a random map generator ( http://www.fantasymapmaker.com/ ) and then modify / improvise as you need for your game. Search google for other map generators, there are lots of them.
- just make sure you get all the countries right! I can't tell you how many times I hear people talking about a game or whatever and think the country is somewhere where its not! try to be accurate on where counties are located in the world!
