Why picket the Golden Globes or any award ceremony?
It seems to me picketing any award ceremony would be cutting your nose off to despite your face. I can understand the background and why the actors and actresses wont cross the picket lines - but arent the awards being given for work already done. Wouldnt this be a benefit to the writers as well as actors guilds for work they already have done?

- Well, they definitely saved a lot of money by not holding the ceremony.
- Well yeah, it's going to hurt the Writer's Guild. But, it won't hurt as much as it would if the Movie Going and TV Watching public forgot that the studios are still Stonewalling any settlement on the Strike. Strikes are settled when the customers want their stuff and put pressure on companies to pay the workers more if that's what it takes to get it. So, it's a good idea to periodically remind folks that they are watching reality and game shows because the studios don't want to cut writer's in on the royalties from internet sales.
- It's a strike and in this case they all have an interest.
- I agree with you but also think it is fantastic what the actors did. They all agreed that they would not cross the WGA picket line to show solidarity for the striking writers. The awards were still awarded so the kudos and acknowledgment for the winners will still be given but the actors just chose to not show up for the presentation as acceptors or presenters out of respect to the writers.
