What is the difference between the Oscars Emmys Grammys Golden Globes etc?

For the oscars, emmy's grammys, golden globes and other's I'm forgetting. Can someone just lay it out plain and simple: Who is honored, for what, who nominates them, when are they held, which one is the most valuable and anything else important?
