What are the "snow flakes" in snow globes made out of?
you know those white flakes in the water of the snow globe, what the heck are those things?

- they're just little chunks of white plastic. I come from a big family and someone (not me!) broke one open to see what they were
- fake snow because if they put real snow in it, it would melt quickly so it has to be fake white plastic flakes.
- In the first snow globes the snow was created by use of bone chips or pieces of porcelain, sand or even sawdust. As they became more sophisticated, the snow was made out of particles of gold foil or non-soluble soap flakes although nowadays, for health and safety reasons, small pieces of white plastic are used.
