- Meh, this is the best site i can find for you.
- The second generation Led's are the wave of the future. I replaced all the Halogen's in my living room with 2nd generation Led's, Pop right in and burn 3 watts for the same light as my old 50 watt halogens, and their not nearly as dangerous as they but out about 1/10 of the heat and have an average life of 50,000 hrs. The best selling point for me was the long life I have an 18 ft vaulted ceiling so changing those bulbs once a year I have 7 was quite a pain and i can tell the difference in the electric bill. The older style led ( 20-60) individual old led's in a bulb are fine for outdoor or accent lighting but wouldn't try to work with it. Swen
- LED's are the kinds of lights you see spell out numbers on your DVD player or VCR. They are also commonly used in digital clocks. LED lightbulbs just take a ton of LEDs, cram them into a small space, and viola you get a lightbulb/globe/whatever. They are considered better for the environment because they are more efficient then the current incandescent bulbs. That means, per watt, they generate more light so you get more light with less energy.
- LEDs (light emitting diodes) produce way less heat, way more light, and use much less energy. Currently you see mostly blue, green, red, and yellow LEDs (in cell phones, stop lights, scoreboards, dashboards) but companys are combining these colors or using gases to change the wavelengths to produce white lights. Raleigh, NC is currently testing using all white light LED in there parking garages and have seen something like a 40% reduction in there electric bill.

- Lead light. It is much worse for the environment. It must be carefully done away with with the light is used up. Very poisonous. Very dangerous.
